You can pack "Cyberpunk 2077" over 5000 times in this suitcase
Western Digital is launching the Ultrastar Transporter, a case with 368 terabytes of NVMe storage. The product is intended for the physical transport of data when the internet connection is too slow.
In total, the game "Cyberpunk 2077" could be stored 5257 times on the portable server. What else you can store on 368 terabytes of memory:
- 7,360,000 photos in RAW format
- 2 392 000 000 document pages
- Install Windows 11 14 720 times
In addition to the huge, non-volatile memory, the case offers 128 gigabytes of RAM, an Intel Xeon CPU and a 1300 watt power supply unit. It is connected to other devices via dual-port 200 Gigabit Ethernet. Two USB 3.0 ports are also available. Western Digital relies on PCIe Gen4 for the interface.
Western Digital writes that the product is suitable for the fast transfer of large amounts of data from servers to remote locations. In addition to data transfer, companies can also use data centre or cloud storage-like services where a network connection is not possible. Be it for cost reasons or a poor connection - transferring data volumes in the region of 100 terabytes with a poor internet connection can take up to several weeks.
It is not known if a pair of handcuffs are included to secure the case.
From big data to big brother, Cyborgs to Sci-Fi. All aspects of technology and society fascinate me.
