Do you prefer your racing games a little less simulation-heavy, but extra colourful? Then you'll soon be able to race against Garfield, the Turtles or Spongebob in the best "Mario Kart" style.

"Asterix & Obelix XXXL: The Ram From Hibernia"

In "Asterix & Obelix XXXL: The Ram From Hibernia" you do what the rebellious Gauls do best: Beat up Romans. From a bird's-eye view, you and up to three friends as Asterix and Obelix will give out plenty of maulings.

"Dragon Ball: The Breakers"

In this asynchronous multiplayer title, a villain faces off against seven players. As Cell or Freezer, you can evolve during the game, similar to "Evolve". The survivors, meanwhile, try to escape.

"Scorn"

A game that would please artist and father of the alien H.R. Giger. "Scorn" is a horror game in a grotesque hell world that is not stingy with phallus and vulva symbolism. In terms of gameplay, you can expect mainly puzzles and occasionally a few action moments.

"NHL 23"

Like all of EA's sports game series, a new "NHL" is released every year. Those who play it should have it on their radar anyway, so why am I even mentioning it? The game is supposed to be surprisingly good and for the first time there is even a woman on the cover. But I've already enjoyed "Fifa" this year. That's enough for me to digest for now.

October 18

"A Plague Tale: Requiem"

The first part surprised with a gripping story about two siblings who have to flee from the French Inquisition in 1348. The central game mechanic revolves around gigantic hordes of rats that you can take advantage of. "Requiem" continues the story. The ravenous rodents are back, as well as a significantly upgraded graphics engine.

"Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed"

Another asynchronous multiplayer sends four ghostbusters racing against a haunting ghost in October. Numerous iconic gadgets from the films can also be found in the game. These include, of course, the Proton Packs, the Ghost Trap as well as the PKE Meter to track down the ghosts.

"Marvel Snap"

"Marvel Snap" is Disney's answer to "Hearthstone". In this card game, you duel in 1v1 against other players with the heroes from the Marvel universe.

I was already able to test the game at Gamescom and since then it has been high on my wish list. The mix of "Dark Souls" combat system and the humour of a "The Stanley Parable" make this action RPG a must-play game in October.

"Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope"

The predecessor impressed with a fresh variation on the turn-based strategy system of an "XCOM". Mario and Co. are given numerous new special abilities in the sequel, which once again promise many tactical possibilities.

Sometimes you just like shooting down mutant dinos with your friends. That's exactly what the co-op shooter "Second Extinction" is all about. Up to three players can shoot their fingers to the bone here. Unlike in the disappointing "Jurassic World: A New Age", the stream of murderous prehistoric beasts never stops here.

"Jackbox Party Pack 9"

As a party game, it's hard to beat the "Jackbox" series. After my play session at Gamescom, I am convinced that the ninth part will also guarantee cheerful evenings. A few new mini-games have been added. But the main attraction will probably remain Fibbage, where the aim is to invent the most stupid answers to questions possible.

"Gotham Knights"

Batman is dead. Now it's up to Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin to protect Gotham from injustice. The open-world game takes its gameplay cues from the previous "Gotham" titles. This means you beat up hordes of villains with ever wilder combos, acrobatically dash across rooftops thanks to numerous special abilities and improve your equipment. "Gotham Knights can be played solo or co-op with another member of the Batman family.

"New Tales from the Borderlands"

What looks like an expansion to "Borderlands 3" is an adventure game of the kind that studio Telltale has put out by the dozen. They were also responsible for the predecessor "Tales from the Borderlands". Because the studio no longer exists, Gearbox is now pulling the strings. In the new game, you can expect the typical Borderlands humour and many decisions that will influence the course of the game.

"Victoria 3"

For strategy fans, October also has a nice treat in store. In "Victoria 3", dozens of nations can be played in the historical period between 1836 and 1936. Do you rely on diplomacy, military strength or economic power? The possibilities seem endless.

"Signalis"

"Signalis" is a classic survival game reminiscent of early Playstation games like "Resident Evil". You take on the role of Elster, a humanoid android. After waking up from cold sleep, she searches for her lost partner in a dystopian world. The pixelated graphics will trigger feelings of nostalgia in any 90s child.

"Bayonetta 3"

The long-awaited sequel to the spectacular brawler action game is finally set to release at the end of October. As the free-spirited witch Bayonetta, you'll beat up tons of curious demon monsters in the streets of Tokyo, the mountains of China and many other locations.

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II"

The name should sound familiar. The eponymous game came out back in 2009 and was spruced up and re-released as a remastered version two years ago. Captain Price reports for duty again. The campaign is set in the present day. Once again there is war, terror and a lot of American pathos. The heart of the game, however, is still the multiplayer part, which, among other things, brings back the third-person mode. The free-to-play "Warzone 2" will follow a little later on 16 November.

"Resident Evil RE:Verse"

The "Resident Evil" series is known for gripping single-player campaigns with horror and puzzles. You'll look in vain for that here. The game is free for anyone who has already bought "Resident Evil Village".
