Sony increases Playstation Plus prices
A hefty price increase is coming for the Playstation Plus 12-month subscription plans. Playstation Plus Premium will cost 40 euros more from 6 September 2023.
With Playstation Plus, you can game new games every month for a flat rate. Sony will increase this as of 6 September if you buy it for a year. And by over 20 per cent.
Playstation Plus comes in Essential, Extra and Premium plans. Here is a comparison of the old and new prices for the 12-month plan:
- Playstation Plus Essential 12-month plan: 71.99 euros (previously: 59.99 euros)
- Playstation Plus Extra 12-month subscription: 125.99 euros (previously: 99.99 euros)
- Playstation Plus Premium 12-month subscription: 151.99 euros (previously: 119.99 euros)
Sony has not yet communicated the extent of the price increases for Switzerland. However, they are likely to be similar to those in the eurozone.
If you have an active 12-month subscription, you will only have to pay the higher tariffs from the next renewal - with a "grace period" of two months from 6 November. However, if you change your existing plan from 6 September, you will have to pay the new price. You can change or cancel your plan at any time.
The prices for the monthly or 3-month plans remain the same. Overall, the 12-month plan is still cheaper than the shorter plans.
