CES 2024: Lenovo's new 2-1 laptop has Windows and Android on board

The ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid is the most unusual new laptop launch at CES 2024. It is a Windows notebook and Android tablet in one.
The usual innovations for laptops are new CPUs, the latest graphics cards, better displays or adjustments to the design. All of this is also the case with the ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid from Lenovo. However, the highlight of the 2-1 device is that it turns from a Windows notebook into an Android tablet when you separate the display from the keyboard.
Fully-fledged Android tablet as a notebook display
With the ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid, Lenovo is embracing the fact that Windows has the better desktop interface, but Android has the better touch interface. The new 2-1 device is an attempt to combine the best of both worlds. In return, it has twice the hardware.

The lower Windows half with the keyboard contains an Intel Core Ultra 7, 32 gigabytes of RAM, a 1-terabyte SSD and a 75 Wh battery. The upper Android half with the 14-inch 2.8K OLED touchscreen, on the other hand, contains tablet technology: a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 12 gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes of storage space. The battery offers 38 watt hours.

The keyboard can also be used for Android. However, Lenovo is still planning to ship with Android 13. There are two cameras on the back of the tablet - and therefore on the lid of the laptop - with a resolution of 13 and 5 megapixels respectively. The tablet has a USB-C port. In the lower part, Lenovo has installed two Thunderbolt 4 sockets in USB-C form and a headphone jack.
