AMD may acquire Xilinx

AMD has received all the necessary approvals to acquire Xilinx. On February 14, the transaction of the original $35 billion deal is scheduled to take place.
AMD succeeds where Nvidia failed a few days ago: a multi-billion takeover of a tech company. Chip developer AMD announced yesterday that all approvals for the takeover of Xilinx have been granted.
AMD is paying $54 billion for the world's largest developer and manufacturer of FPGA chips. Originally, 35 billion US dollars were to be distributed to Xilinx shareholders in common shares. However, as AMD's stock has risen since the October 2020 announcement, the deal is now likely worth $54 billion. Valentine's Day is when the nuptials are expected to take place.
The product portfolios and customer bases of the two companies complement each other. This is probably why the deal has caused less of a stir than the Nvidia arm deal with the relevant authorities. AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su said at A n announcing the deal, she said the acquisition could make AMD the high-performance computing leader.
