Alienware and Dell G-Series: New design and new display sizes for gaming notebooks
Dell is presenting six new gaming notebooks from Alienware and the G-Series at CES 2023. Not only the interior has changed, but also their exterior.
The Alienware notebooks have fewer corners and edges, while those of the G series have more and partly two-coloured cases. Alienware is returning to 16-inch displays and has an extra-large one on offer with an 18-inch model.
Third stage of redesign
The current design of the Alienware notebooks is the third stage in the ongoing redesign process. Dell is underpinning it with plenty of design philosophy. For you, besides the looks, it is important that the laptops should now be more comfortable to carry in your hand. Dell claims to have achieved this, among other things, by moving cooling elements, which leads to a flatter design.

In addition, the four new notebooks are said to be easier to open and close. The palm rest is also said to feel more natural. Visually, the use of two colours provides more contrast.
Alienware m18 and m16: Same same but different
The Alienware m18 and m16 only differ in the size of the display and the case. Along with that, the m18 offers a full-size keyboard that has optional Cherry mechanical keys. The rest of the equipment may be identical, but it is not yet clear exactly which variants will be released.

An Intel Core i7-13650HX, Core i7-13700HX or Core i9-13980HX can be installed. Add to that a mobile Geforce RTX 4050, 4070, 4080 or 4090 and 16, 32 or 62 gigabytes of RAM. The storage space can range from 256 gigabytes to 9 terabytes. The 18- or 16-inch displays have QHD resolution and a refresh rate of 165 hertz or Full HD resolution and 480 hertz.
Alienware x16 and x14: The new and an update
The Alienware x16 is a complete newcomer. With its 16-inch display in 16:10 format, Dell wants to put an end to the debate about whether 15 or 17 inches are better. There is a QHD version with 165 hertz and a Full HD version with 480 hertz to choose from. As with the m-series, there is also the option of Cherry switches on the keyboard. The data sheet offers a choice between an Intel Core i7-1360H, Core i7-13700H or Core i9-13900HX and a mobile Geforce RTX 4050, 4070, 4080 or 4090, plus 16 or 32 gigabytes of RAM and up to four terabytes of storage.

The x14 R2 also has the new design, but Alienware only considers it a small update of the x14 from 2022. Here you can expect a 14-inch QHD+ display with 165 hertz. You can choose between an Intel Core i5-13520H or Core i7-13620H and 16 or 32 gigabytes of RAM. A mobile Geforce RTX 3050, 4050 or 4060 is responsible for the graphics. The storage space is up to four terabytes.
Dell G15 and G16: 80s pop aesthetics
As with the Alienware m-series, the Dell G15 and G16 differ primarily in display size and, along with it, resolution and refresh rate. On the G15, it's 15 inches with Full HD and 120 or 165 hertz, while on the G16 it's 16 inches, QHD+ and 165 or 240 hertz.

The other equipment can be identical, but again depends on the final configurations offered. The choice is between an Intel Core i513450HX, Core i7-13650HX, Core i7-13700HX or Core i9-13900HX. Add to that as yet unspecified mobile Geforce RTX and up to 32 gigabytes of RAM and up to 2 terabytes of storage.
Prices and availability
All six new notebooks are expected to be available with Intel and Nvidia hardware before the end of the first quarter of 2023. When they are, there will also be the exact configurations and prices. All models are also to be released with AMD hardware. But you'll have to wait until the second quarter of 2023 for that.
